1 You meant so much to me
at the end of the seventies
our laughter filled any big hall
we didn’t need anybody at all
2 There was a western saloon
in the middle of our playroom
we rode together to various worlds
feeling as free as birds
REF: You were my twin, almost a sister
you were so lighthearted, oh I missed you
We were two girls playing so many roles
I didn’t know, we would drift apart for years
You were my friend, you were my angel
side by side, out of reach
until one day childhood ended
now you’re a doctor and I, I teach
Two grinning faces on a polaroid
Sweet memories of the sweet seventies
3 Self-knitted beige cardigans
over our traditional dresses
we were running through the cornfields for hours
sometimes we just picked up flowers
4 Back to the year 2019
to our stories which have been
a whole life long so precious, now you
tell me, that you’ve loved them too
REF: You were my twin, almost a sister
you were so lighthearted, oh I missed you
We were two girls playing so many roles
I didn’t know, we would drift apart for years
You were my friend, you were my angel
side by side, out of reach
until one day childhood endet
now you’re a doctor and I, I teach
